Support for non-government schools
On 29 April 2020, the Australian Government announced that non-government schools will have the option to bring forward their July 2020 recurrent school funding payments provided they have a plan to provide a level of education in a standard classroom setting, by 1 June 2020. This is in addition to financial assistance the government is making available to small and medium sized businesses and not-for-profit organisations to help with their cash flow.

National Principles for School Education response to COVID-19
On 16 April 2020, the National Cabinet met and agreed to a set of National Principles for School Education in response to COVID-19. These principles outline how schools can support the ongoing delivery of high quality education for all students during COVID-19 to enable students to progress through their year level and support a successful transition to 2021.

COVID-19 support available for non-government schools
Depending on how your approved authority’s financial arrangements are structured, you may be eligible for a range of support measures that have been announced by the Australian Government in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Support measures available include:

• Boosting cash flow for employers

• JobKeeper payment

• Coronavirus Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Guarantee Scheme

• Other support available to non-government schools

• Temporary relief for financially distressed businesses
